| First of all, those in the know will have to get past the fact that despite the meaning of its name, a centipede tends NOT to have 100 feet. Those who can are certain to enjoy this simple story about shoes, feet and multiples of 100. Fortunately, the story is short, fast-paced and has logical rhymes. Unfortunately, the "math" part is really only about three sentences long and includes only: two times fifty, five times twenty and ten times ten. Even so, with arithmetic seeming to sometimes take a back seat to reading and writing, this is an easy, fun way to expose your younger reader to the number 100 and some of its factors. Reading level is K through Second grade. This would be a great book to read during 100th Day of School celebrations. Also good: Mary Clare Loves to Share. |
