| In this contest of wills at bedtime, a cat, the parent figure, tries to convince a teddy bear, the child figure, that it's time for bed. Asking for one more book, one more hug, one more kiss, one more drink, the teddy is anything but a sleepyhead. The softly colored watercolor illustrations show the teddy bear cavorting with figures from his quilt (a giraffe, penguins, a bear, a rocket ship, and more) with the cat in hot pursuit. This turbulence is accentuated by extreme contrasts in the size of the figures and the print on the pages. The figures range from miniscule ones set against a background of white space broken up by large print to figures that nearly fill a two-page spread. Calming things down in anticipation of bedtime is the rhyming, repetitive text and an ending that finds the teddy sound asleep. |

| This is one of the few kids' books that I actually enjoy reading over and over to my son. We both love the gentle rhymes, and the prompts for one more hug and kiss, and the fun illustrations. He loves this book and I love that he loves it. All I have to do is start reciting the first line of the book and he toddles over and climbs into my lap for story time. So fun. |

| My life is a series of lessons and moments that see me to the next lessons and moments. Some moments are sweet, some scary, some a blur gone too fast and forever missed. I write for children because all of these steps started there, in childhood, and that sense of wonder, keen curiosity, and the ability to see things much kinder and more magical than they actually were, fades as time passes and years and experience claim your naivety. For me it is a feeling only rekindled when I am creating books, stories and poetry.
