A short section at the back of each book offers related advice to parents. Mom Works Too describes typical children's reactions to working mothers. Children often feel lonely and deprived of their mom's love and attention when mothers pursue careers and add to the family income. This book reassures kids that Mom loves them as much as ever, and explains why it may be necessary for mothers to work outside the home.

| I recently returned to work, and my 4-year-old son is having a difficult time adjusting. This book caught my eye because it was the only one I could find specifically written on the topic of mommy going to work. I was pretty excited and ordered the book, and decided to take a look at it when it arrived before reading it to my son...and I'm glad I did! It started out ok, the beginning was actually very relevant, then, a twist is thrown in, and mom is expecting a baby! There are PLENTY of books out there on that topic, and I found it completely inappropriate, as I am NOT expecting, and do NOT want to give my son another thing to worry about. This book is supposed to be about mom going to work, not mom going to work, then winding up pregnant, and planning conveniently to be on "maternity leave" and be back home with the child. What a confusing mess to a young child, waste of money, won't be reading it to my son. |
