| This book is so formulaic that the same text appears from story to story in the series. The cute puppy on the cover and the glittery title doesn't give a hint of the scary wolf story inside (scary is an issue for my first grader granddaughter). The illustrations in the story are cute and in this story they match the puppy character. In subsequent books in this series the same illustrations are used inside and don't match the descriptions of the puppy breeds or the front covers. The Magic Treehouse series is a much better example of formula writing. |
