Grade 1-3–Cheech the bus driver and his Cheecharones embark on a supernatural adventure when he picks up students at a cemetery. When the kids disappear and haunt the bus, Cheech and the Cheecharones work together to get rid of the ghostly visitors. Their antics are not a bit scary, but are a lot of fun: wearing ghost costumes, singing unfriendly songs, and trying to throw the ghosts off the bus. Soon the real students realize how much fun it is to have the strangers around. Ramírez's eye-catching illustrations bring the story to life with bright colors and characters full of animated expressions. An appealing storytime choice.–Ana Rodriguez, Tamarac Elementary School, FL |

In "Cheech y el Autobus Fantasma," Cheech is a school bus driver. When his bus stops in a graveyard, the children that get on are not ordinary students, they are ghosts.
Cayden: "I like scary books! This one was in Spanish so I didn't know some of the words, but we looked up the ones that we didn't know. We could kind of tell by the pictures in the book what was going on too, like when they dressed up to scare the ghosts. I learned some new Spanish words in this book."
Parent's comments:
When I think of children's book authors, actor Cheech Marin is not a person who would come to mind. However, we found "Cheech y el Autobus Fantasma," to be entertaining and a good test of my Spanish language knowledge. Both my child and I learned some new words as the ones that we did not know we looked up. Scary books are always a hit in this house and this one was no exception! |
