Peter McCarty brings his popular monster back in style, with a sequel that will have kids drawing their own little monsters in no time.

From Organization / 国外机构评价:
After birthing a monster by drawing it (and then cleverly dispatching it by drawing a bus ticket) in Jeremy Draws a Monster (2009), Jeremy gets an unwelcome phone call. “I’m coming back,” says the monster, this time outfitted with a pink hat and a gray convertible. “And I’m bored!” Jeremy gathers the friends he made last time, and they each draw a new monster so that the returning beast won’t be lonely. As before, great white spaces give the affair an absurd, floating feel, especially effective when McCarty reveals the six new monsters, all of whom are ready to begin the wild rumpus. Preschool-Kindergarten. --Daniel Kraus

Foreign Customer Review / 国外客户评价:
Jeremy Draws a Monster is one of my toddler daughter and my favorite books to read together, so when I saw a sequel was coming, I was excited. Because The Monster Returns was billed as a sequel, I expected something similar to the first book. Eg, the impolite monster returns and imposes on Jeremy, and Jeremy cleverly gets rid of the monster again. Other than the recurring characters and the fact that the monster calls to say he's coming back, this book really has nothing to do with the first. There is no clear message in it, and it has a strange beginning (what's with the paper airplane note? What was the point?) and unsatisfying ending. I keep re-reading it thinking that I'll suddenly pick up on something I missed and I'll finally love the book, but so far no dice. A sequel had so much potential for fun, but this really isn't much of a sequel at all. I really wanted to love this book (and I'm still trying!), but I was pretty disappointed by it. My daughter also didn't seem to enjoy it. She had me read Jeremy Draws a Monster repeatedly to her when she first received it, but this one she barely got through one time before losing interest.
