One in the board book series Teenie Greenies, this visually appealing book is ideal for babies and toddlers with its simple rhyming descriptors and sturdy Lift-the-Flap surprises. Because it contains one and two syllable words, it works equally well for Level 1 Beginning Readers. The drawings are highly attractive, displaying in true colors items slated for the compost heap: Banana, lift the flap, Peel; Apple, lift the flap, Core; Melon, lift the flap, Rind. The quite sturdy construction will defy little fingers from picking apart the cardboard corners or peeling off the lifting flap. And, oh, yes, it includes a simple unobtrusive message of `going green'. |
