Overview / 简介:
An enchanting story of friendship, family, and learning to share.
One cold winter morning, a glistening, sparkling snowflake lands on Little Squirrel’s nose. How wonderful, he thinks…and mine, all mine. Only, his big brothers and sister want to play with it, too. “IT’S MINE!” insists Little Squirrel. So he builds himself a tree house and hides away with his precious catch.
But as time goes by, Little Squirrel begins to realize that perhaps his snowflake would be even more beautiful if it wasn’t “mine, all mine”—but ours, all ours.

From Organization / 国外机构评价:
Kindergarten-Grade 2—Little Squirrel is playing with his siblings when a glimmering snowflake alights on his nose. The others present different ideas as to what to do with it, but Little Squirrel wants to keep it all to himself. He collects several twigs, scrambles up a tree, and builds a large nest to keep his prize hidden. The next day, he hears a bird singing but the sound is muffled by the nest's twig wall. Later, he peers through the twigs to see his siblings playing in the snow and he begins to feel a bit melancholy. He soon becomes hungry and knows that his family will be sharing a meal. He drops the snowflake, which rolls into an enormous snowball that is headed toward his family and they all share it. The illustrations are mostly painted in warm, autumn tones, making the glittery, silvery-blue snowflake stand out. Children who have been torn between hoarding favorite things or sharing them will certainly relate to Little Squirrel's dilemma.—Donna Atmur, Los Angeles Public Library

Foreign Customer Review / 国外客户评价:
Several squirrels were scampering about on a cold winter's day when the snow began to fly. Little Squirrel was totally enchanted when a "huge, glistening snowflake" landed right on the tip of his upturned nose. Big Squirrel, one of his brothers, quickly chimed in with a suggestion on how to have some fun with the snowflake. Bigger Squirrel thought it would be a fun idea to stick in on a branch and did just that. Little Squirrel began to pout and got louder each time he squawked, "But it's my snowflake . . . but it's MINE!" The Biggest Squirrel had another idea, but enough was enough. Little Squirrel was off on his own gathering up twigs to make a nest where he could cuddle up with his snowflake. He quietly dozed off, all by his lonesome saying, "Mine, all mine." The next day everything was quiet and he was able to spend some time admiring his beautiful snowflake. His family was out in the snow sliding with each other and having a good time without a thought or care about that snowflake or Little Squirrel for that matter. Later that day when everyone would be eating their dinner, "he called out to them, but no one answered." It seemed like "mine, all mine," wasn't such a good idea after all. What could he do to make the other squirrels want to be around him again? Youngsters who adopt the "mine, all mine" strategy a bit too often will learn from this book. I liked and enjoyed the simple lesson of the importance of sharing that was imparted in this book's message. The story flowed very nicely and, combined with the charming illustrations, brought a smile to my face more than once. This book has raised snowflakes and bits of snow that glitter and shine. If you love to read a good animal story, with a little lesson thrown in for good measure, this one is a charmer you might want to consider!
