| Bridget Fidget had a BIG imagination. She didn't want just any old pet like a dog, cat or a goldfish, she wanted a "pet unicorn called Thunderhooves." That was a very tall order, but she was still hopeful. She was all snuggled up in her bed, but when the doorbell rang she was out of her red polka dot pjs and into a nice jumper in a flash and down those stairs. When she got down there, she discovered a huge box, but one that wasn't quite large enough for Thunderhooves. It was covered with all kinds of yellow ribbons that "probably said `Congratulations! ... Here's your new pet!'" Briget was just going to have to open that box.
She got the ribbon off and that "snow" in the box was all over the kitchen, behind the couch and even on the table covering up her stuffed kitty cat. Gee, there was only a small box nestled inside the huge one and she could only guess at what type of pet was in it. Bridget gave it the shake test, smelled it and rolled it when all of a sudden it began to make a noise. "NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN . . . " She grabbed her kitty cat and ran up the stairs because if there was "a sleepy little secret pet in the box" it needed waiting up and a shower was in order. Daddy was in the shower so she tucked "the box up in bed with Mommy." Not long after she heard someone yell "BRIDGET FIDGET!!" Gee, what was in that box?
This was a very amusing story of a little one with an imagination that won't quit. Many parents will be able to relate to the mischief their little imagination youngsters can get into when they aren't looking. The story and the art work were very lively and my favorite part was when there was that funny snow that somehow traveled to every nook and cranny around the house. Of course it's funny so long as it isn't your house. If you have a little mischievous Bridget Fidget and want a few chuckles and snorts, maybe this is one book you'll choose to read to your little one! |
