| My kid loves farm animals, and loves "books on tape" so naturally his Grandma thought this would be a great gift for him. He certainly likes it, but I threw away the CD after one listen and definitely edit large chunks when I read it. Fine, the pig page indicates bacon, pork chops, ribs, sausage and ham are all products that come from pigs. This disturbs me, but I don't want to be a hypocrite. I realize it's important for my kid to know that his food comes from farms. But, "other parts of the cow are used to make butter, soup flavorings, chewing gum, leather, soap cosmetics, buttons, photographic film, sandpaper and violin strings" and that chickens give us, "meat: fried, roasted, boiled, nuggets..." is just too much information for a 2-year-old. These weird comments are always represented in boxes, so it is pretty easy to skip them. I just wonder why they are included. |
