| We bought this book for Easter for our 2yr old son with the idea of using it on Earth Day and to build his library with some books that teach conservation and ecology. The Sesame Street characters give little kids a tie into the topic and the 10 "ways" are very simple and easy to follow, even for a 2yr old. Examples are turning off the water when you brush your teeth, passing along toys and clothes that have been out grown, planting trees/flowers, using shopping sacks instead of plastic bags, trying to repair broken items instead of throwing them out, and resuing items around the house for crafts and other, recycling,and turning lights off when not in use.
The simple illustrations and text in the book really makes the topic easily understood and creates plenty of opportunities for interactive dialogue between parent and child. Well done Sesame Street. What a wonderful way to start teaching children how to better take care of our earth. |
